Necessary documents for Import Customs Clearance

	Passport (copies)
	All pages except blank pages are required. Especially the photo page, visa page and the page with the stamp of immigration date should be as clear as possible.
	Packing List (copy)
	It is the list on which the details of contents are described. Usually, it is provided during the packing at origin and mailed or faxed from origin agent. Ambiguous words, such as PBO, HHG, MISC, BOX etc. are unacceptable.
	BL (Ocean BL, WayBL)
	Usually, the BL will be mailed or faxed from origin agent. Ocean BL must be original but in case of WayBL, a copy is effective.
	Declaration (Form 5360. original)
	This declaration is the most important document. Please refer to the SAMPLE. The form must be prepared by yourself during your flight coming to Japan. It is also available at your first arrival airport in Japan. You have to provide two(2) forms which must be presented to the Customs officer. One will be kept by the Customs Officer and the another one will be returned with a customs stamp on it. If you forget the declaration or there is no stamp on your declaration 1. The tax exemption allowance will be not applied. 2. A statement of "PETITION" will have to be submitted to Customs. 3. Additional inspection will be required and will be a cause for delay in clearance.
	Confirmation of contents / Details of destination (original)
	The reconfirmation of your shipping items is required. At the time of customs clearance, all items are physically inspected. A false report becomes a cause of big trouble. We need the delivery address and your contact phone. If the destination is not decided yet, please contact me by fax or e-mail by the completion of customs clearance.
	Visa (Copies)
	It is unnecessary for Japanese. Generally for foreigners, the short term visa for three months is issued for the time being. This short term visa will be effective for air-shipment but the long term visa will be required for sea-shipment. If you have not received the long term visa yet, a letter of "PETITION" must be submitted to Customs and with a copy of "Application of long term visa.
	Employment certificate (original)
	It is unnecessary for Japanese. This is the certificate on which your purpose of stay in Japan is described. Generally it is a working certificate issued from your company, or an "Enrollment-in-school" certification.
	Power of Attorney (original)
	Eaglenet makes arrangement for customs clearance as your representative. Therefore, you don't need to attend the customs clearance.
